On-screen Keyboard

An on-screen keyboard can be helpful when learning the location of letters on alternative keyboard layouts. Once you have enabled a language for your keyboard you can use it on either the real keyboard or the on-screen keyboard. To turn on the on-screen keyboard:

  1. click START
  2. ALL PROGRAMS
  3. ACCESSORIES
  4. EASE OF ACCESS
  5. finally ON-SCREEN KEYBOARD

Choose the language that you would like to use by selecting the EN on the taskbar near the clock. You will then be able to use the mouse to select keys from the on-screen keyboard or use it as a visual reference while typing on the physical keyboard.

French Keyboard

Your computer keyboard can type text in many languages. In order to type in a language other than English on a Windows based computer, you must first add the language to the installed language list. Then make the language bar visible so that you can switch back and forth between languages. Follow these steps:

  1. Go to START
  2. CONTROL PANEL
  3. REGION & LANGUAGE
  4. select the KEYBOARDS and LANGUAGES tab
  5. click CHANGE KEYBOARDS button
  6. ADD
  7. Find your language in the list
  8. for French expand FRENCH for the country type you would like to use
  9. expand KEYBOARD
  10. check the box FRENCH
  11. select OK
  12. select the LANGUAGE BAR tab
  13. select DOCKED IN THE TASKBAR
  14. select OK

When you want to type in the language in a document find click the EN in the taskbar down by the clock. Select the language you would like your keyboard to type.
